Cartographie relationnelle
\nRelational Cartography<\/em><\/h2>\n

De nouvelles interfaces, de type G\u00e9oportail ou Google Earth, apparaissent et permettent d\u2019utiliser, de repr\u00e9senter et de mettre en relation des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9ospatiales. La carte du territoire se voit recouverte de documents localis\u00e9s photographiques, (j\u2019\u00e9tais l\u00e0), filmiques (j\u2019ai vu cela) et sonores (j\u2019ai entendu ceci), o\u00f9 sont \u00e9pingl\u00e9s souvenirs et traces d\u2019activit\u00e9s humaines. La carte devient une interface active et mn\u00e9motechnique qui structure et met en relation des contenus h\u00e9t\u00e9rog\u00e8nes, cr\u00e9ant convergences et interp\u00e9n\u00e9trations entre les disciplines et les usages. Les interfaces cartographiques repr\u00e9sentant le monde r\u00e9el cohabitent avec d\u2019autres univers virtuels et fictifs, et leurs repr\u00e9sentations tendent \u00e0 se confondre. La cartographie devient un outil de composition des donn\u00e9es pour orienter le regard et rendre visible ce qui \u00e9chappe \u00e0 notre perception habituelle comme les espaces vides et oubli\u00e9s, l\u2019agencement des r\u00e9seaux sociaux, les structures du savoir et du pouvoir et leur relation \u00e0 travers la plan\u00e8te.
\nPour discuter de ces nouvelles perspectives cartographiques, nous invitons Boris Beaude, Philippe Vasset et Bureau d\u2019\u00e9tudes (L\u00e9onore Bonaccini et Xavier Fourt), qui explorent ces anciens et nouveaux outils, avec des approches diff\u00e9rentes.<\/p>\n

New Interfaces as G\u00e9oportail and Google Earth have emerged allowing the application, the representation and the combination of geospatial information. The territorial map has been covered with localized photographic documents (I was there), film documents (I saw this) and sonic documents (I heard that), which express human activity and memorize its traces. The map is becoming an interactive and mnemonic interface structuring and combining heterogeneous topics. Various disciplines and applications therefore interact and converge with each other. Cartographic interfaces representing the real world meet virtual and fictive spaces, becoming nearly indistinguishable. New possibilities of ordering information arise with this cartography, focusing the attention and making visible what has been disregarded by common perception. Examples of these are forgotten spaces, the constitution of social networks and structures of knowledge and of power in their relation to each other all over the planet.<\/em>
\nTo discuss these new cartographic perspectives we invite Boris Beaude, Philippe Vasset and Bureau d\u2019\u00e9tudes (L\u00e9onore Bonaccini and Xavier Fourt), who explore these old and the new applications, each with a different approach.<\/em><\/p>\n

Boris Beaude<\/strong> est g\u00e9ographe et chercheur, geographer and researcher<\/em>. Membre du laboratoire, member of the research lab<\/em> Ch\u00f4ros de l\u2019\u00c9cole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne et Ma\u00eetre de conf\u00e9rences \u00e0 l\u2019Institut d\u2019Etudes Politiques de Paris. Ses travaux portent sur la dimension spatiale de la t\u00e9l\u00e9communication et plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sur le contexte spatial de l\u2019interaction sociale. Il s\u2019int\u00e9resse aux moyens que les individus se donnent pour ma\u00eetriser l\u2019espace et, en particulier, \u00e0 Internet comme espace singulier de la coexistence.<\/p>\n

The work of Boris Beaude <\/strong>concentrates on the spatial dimension of telecommunication and, more generally, on the spatial context of social interaction. He is interested in the way individuals cope with the space surrounding them and he is particularly concerned with Internet as a singular space of coexistence.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nBureau d\u2019\u00e9tudes<\/strong> est un groupe conceptuel, cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1998 \u00e0 Paris,\u00a0 qui d\u00e9veloppe un travail collectif croisant art, th\u00e9orie et recherche. Ce travail se traduit notamment par la r\u00e9alisation de cartographies sur les r\u00e9seaux et complexes de pouvoirs, rendant lisibles les liens entre les \u00e9tats, les groupes financiers, les think tanks, les entreprises, etc. Ces cartographies sont diffus\u00e9es dans des contextes artistiques, militants, universitaires ou sans qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Bureau d\u2019\u00e9tudes <\/strong>is a conceptual group created in Paris in 1998 intermingling art, theory and research in their collective work. Amongst others, the group publishes maps on networks and power complexes highlighting the links between countries, financial groups, think tanks, companies, etc. These maps are distributed in an artistic, militant, academic or no-quality context.<\/em>

\nPhilippe Vasset<\/strong> a publi\u00e9 trois romans, has published three novels<\/em> : Exemplaire de d\u00e9monstration (2003), Carte Muette (2004) et Bandes Altern\u00e9es (2006) et un r\u00e9cit avec cartes, and a report with maps<\/em>, Un Livre Blanc (2007, Fayard). Avec l\u2019Atelier de G\u00e9ographie Parall\u00e8le, qu\u2019il a co-fond\u00e9 avec Xavier Courteix et Xavier Bismuth, Philippe Vasset a con\u00e7u l\u2019exposition Cartes Blanches, qui s\u2019est tenue du 10 au 30 septembre 2007 \u00e0 la galerie Ars Longa \u00e0 Paris.<\/p>\n

Together with the Atelier de G\u00e9ographie Parall\u00e8le, of whom he is co-founder besides Xavier Courteix and Xavier Bismuth, Philippe Vasset organized the exhibition Cartes Blanches, which was shown from the 10th to the 30th of September 2007 at the gallery Ars Longa in Paris.<\/em><\/p>\n
